"This is the king of Australian Grenache and not to be undertaken lightly. Deep, although clear in colour, it has a rainbow of flavours, its deep roots probing the soil nearby for sustenance that will provide tannins and all things needed for the grapes to reveal the magic evolution of the red flowers and spices of this wine."
James Halliday has awarded Yangarra High Sands Grenache 2016 Wine of the Year 2020 at the Halliday Wine Companion Awards. The High Sands also received 99 Points and won its category of Best Shiraz/or Grenache. This is a fantastic achievement for Team Yangarra but also for McLaren Vale Grenache. We are honoured to have the High Sands recognised as being "the king of Australian Grenache"!
We would also like to extend our congratulations to all the other winners on the evening, being: Jim Barry Wines (Winery of the Year), Vanya Cullen (Winemaker of the Year), Shy Susan Wines (Best New Winery), Dal Zotto Wines (Dark Horse of the Year) and Domaine Naturaliste (Best Value Winery of the Year).
