It is now one year on after our Head Winemaker Peter Fraser was awarded the 2016 James Halliday Winemaker of the Year. With the recent release of the 2017 Halliday Wine Companion, we are excited to share that seven of our wines scored 95 points or above, including 2013 High Sands Grenache, 2013 Ironheart Shiraz and 2014 Whole Bunch Shiraz all scoring 97 points!

Please see below for the reviews

2013 Yangarra Estate Vineyard High Sands Grenache - 97 points
“This is in another league altogether. There is a total fusion between the fruit and tannins first up, oak likewise subsumed by the fruit. There is a bright display of a blaze of red fruits, so vivid that the structural components are relegated to the back of the stage, where they will remain for the life of the wine. Screwcap. 14.8% alc. Rating 97 To 2033.”

2013 Yangarra Estate Vineyard Ironheart Shiraz - 97 points
“Sombre, earthy black fruits are so intense they momentarily stop the heart from beating. The texture and mouthfeel are such that they throw down the gauntlet to anyone seeking to drink more than a glass at this early (indeed far too early) stage of its life. The balance is spot on the money, so the long-term future is assured. Screwcap. 14.5% alc. Rating 97 To 2053.”

2014 Yangarra Estate Vineyard Whole Bunch Shiraz - 97 points
“Great aromas don't prepare you for the full-bodied palate, every crevice of the mouth filled with velvety black fruits, bitter chocolate, liquorice and spice. The balance is such that drinking it now is no crime, however fast into the distant future the wine will run. Screwcap. 14.5% alc. Rating 97 To 2049.”

2014 Yangarra Estate Vineyard GSM - 96 points
“Excellent depth to the colour; this is  mighty mouthful, somewhere between Guigal and Chateau Rayas in style, a veritable volcano or red and purple fruits that do, however, want to be enjoyed sooner rather than later. First-class wine. Screwcap. 14.5% alc. Rating 96 To 2020.”

2014 Yangarra Estate Vineyard Ceramic Egg Grenache - 96 points
“The fruit comes into play early, and continues its dominance through the length of the palate, its juicy red berry/compote fruits not letting the ever-present tannins gain control. Whether it’s the eggs or the fruit, it has more overall power than its siblings. Screwcap. 14.5% alc. Rating 96 To 2020.”

2014 Yangarra Estate Vineyard Shiraz - 95 points
“Everything falls into place, the design of the jigsaw puzzle taking place post haste. McLaren Vale fruit essence, with black fruits and potent dark chocolate looking as much to the sky as the earth, the whole bunch elements adding a twist to the main design, eloquent tannins also making a significant contribution. Screwcap 14% alc. Rating 95 To 2034

2014 Yangarra Estate Vineyard Old Vine Grenache - 95 points
“The lightish colour is misleading: the wine has a cascade of red fruits, with a slightly unexpected brush fence of ripe tannins, important now as much as in the future, when they will fuse back into the wine. Screwcap. 14.5% alc. Rating 95 To 2029.”
