It’s our pleasure to announce Yangarra has topped the James Suckling Top 100 Wines Australia 2023 list with our 2021 Ovitelli Grenache rated #1 Australian Wine of the Year and the 2020 High Sands Grenache #11 selected by Senior Editor, Ned Goodwin MW.

This is welcome recognition for a wine that's so special to our team. Winemaker Peter Fraser said,

"I am elated that our Ovitelli Grenache has been named as James Suckling 2023 Australian Wine of the Year, as reviewed by Ned Goodwin MW. The 2021 vintage has been a gift that keeps giving... it was a simply stunning vintage for Yangarra. Ovitelli is very special to me, as it culminated from our first experiments in 2013 of making Grenache in ceramic eggs and using extended time on skins to polish and hone its distinctive tannin structure and purity of fruit.

I’m also so proud to see the 2020 High Sands at #11 showing the depth of this wonderful vineyard.

I’d love to dedicate this to Bernard Smart who recently passed away peacefully, age 90. He planted these vines with his father, and brother David in 1946, and further protected these vines from the vine pull scheme. What a year we’ve had, he’d be so proud.”
