We are very excited to take delivery of the very first Schneckenleitner Austrian Oak Vat (known as a Foudre) in Australia.

The Austrian cooperage was founded in 1628, and the Schneckenleitner family has been running the cooperage for five generations (since 1880). The Welding Oak is 100% Austrian Oak, which is very tight grain and low in aromatics, resulting in a very low impact vessel that really respects the fruit.

This vat will be used for our 2020 Kingswood Shiraz, but after the first year of use, we plan to use it for the 2021 High Sands Grenache. These pictures are of our winery team unwrapping our Foudre (and admiring it!).
