2019 Hickinbotham Clarendon Grenache *
Yangarra is a single-vineyard estate situated in the north-east of the McLaren Vale region, South Australia.
Hickinbotham covers a steep cut of country from the ridgetops above the village of Clarendon to the Onkaparinga River in the gorge below.
VINTAGE SUMMARY
The 2019 growing season was very dry, which resulted in incredibly low yields. We had a relatively warm lad up to the ripening period, which produced a very condensed and fast harvest.
WINEMAKING
This is the first release of this wine under the Yangarra label, sourced from our Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard. It is the only wine not from the estate. With Grenache being our focus, we felt that this small plot (0.9 Ha) of Grenache planted in 1962 was most suited to Yangarra’s single block wines.Â
