Ovitelli is the most perfumed and elegant Grenache from the sands at Yangarra. The vibrant fruit of those dry grown 1946 bush vines is rewarded with a long, luxurious ferment and a whole autumn on skins in big ceramic eggs.

VINTAGE SUMMARY

The 2019 growing season was very dry, which resulted in incredibly low yields. We had a relatively warm lead up to the ripening period, which produced a very condensed and fast harvest. These late ripening varieties faired very well in a season like this, giving rise to concentration, freshness of flavour and marked natural acidity.

WINE MAKING

Sourced from Block 30 planted in 1946 and adjacent to the High Sands block. Hand-picked and mechanically berry sorted. 100% destemmed, crushed and tipped into 675L ceramic eggs. The fermentation occurred in the eggs and remained on skins for 158 days post fermentation. No pressings are used in this wine. No oak maturation, and matured exclusively in the eggs for another 5 months. Bottled March 2020.
