2022 Grenache Rosé

Hand-picked early in the season to capture the pink lady apple crunchiness of the skins and vibrant natural acidity. Gently pressed to produce a very pale, elegant and dry style of Rosé. The Grenache displays delicate rose hip and strawberry aromas with a juicy, crisp palate.

VINTAGE SUMMARY

The 2022 growing season followed very similar conditions to 2021, though slightly cooler. There were favourable winter rains and a mild flowering and fruit set period. The cool ripening period took place between late January through to harvest in March. Yields were well balanced, and we are pleased with the fruit ripeness, intensity, freshness, and natural acidity.

A portion of Grenache destined for the Rosé was the first fruit picked for the season, beginning on the 2ndof March.

WINEMAKING

Hand-picked. Gently basket pressed using whole bunches, just as if making a white wine, for minimal colour extraction. A small percentage of Saignée (drained off juice) used in the blend to add some depth of flavour without overwhelming the finesse we are striving for. Cool Fermentation, followed by maturation in tank on lees, stirred for 4 months. Bottled August 2022. Organic and Biodynamic.
