Celebrating a Double Trophy Win at the 2026 McLaren Vale Wine Show
Two wines, two trophies. Celebrating our award-winning Piquepoul and Rosé, just in time for summer.
We're incredibly proud to share that Yangarra Estate Vineyard has been awarded two trophies at the 2026 McLaren Vale Wine Show, announced on Friday, 30 October.
Our 2026 Piquepoul was awarded Best New & Emerging White Wine, while our 2026 Rosé took home Best Rosé, a wonderful recognition of the dedication and care of our vineyard and winemaking teams.
The 2026 growing season brought its challenges, from an unpredictable spring to a long, gentle ripening period. Patience and careful attention in the vineyard were rewarded with wines of exceptional freshness, purity and balance.
While Yangarra is internationally recognised for our Grenache, these two wines showcase another side of our McLaren Vale estate, celebrating the Mediterranean varieties that thrive in our vineyard.
With summer and the festive season approaching, there's no better time to discover them.

2026 Piquepoul | Best New & Emerging White Wine
For Head of Winemaking and Viticulture Guillaume Camougrand, the Piquepoul trophy is particularly exciting, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for this lesser-known white variety.
"We've seen so much interest in our Piquepoul in recent years, and it's been exciting sharing it with wine lovers around the country. It's a variety that really captures people's curiosity, and we love introducing something a little different. Winning this trophy is wonderful recognition for the whole team."
Originally from southern France, Piquepoul thrives in the Mediterranean climate of our elevated Blewitt Springs vineyard in McLaren Vale.
Our 2026 Piquepoul offers delicate notes of lemon, minerality and a hint of sea spray, with naturally refreshing acidity and a vibrant saline finish.
With Christmas approaching, Piquepoul is a natural choice for freshly shucked oysters, its bright acidity and subtle saline character beautifully complementing the freshness of the sea.
It's equally delicious with grilled prawns, summer seafood platters or as the first glass poured on a sunny Sunday afternoon while the barbecue heats up.
A refreshing white wine made for sunshine, seafood and long afternoons shared with friends.

2026 Rosé | Best Rosé
Our 2026 Rosé is another wonderful expression of the Mediterranean varieties grown on our estate.
Inspired by the wines of southern France, this year's Mourvèdre-led blend brings together Counoise, Grenache and Cinsaut to create a fragrant, lively and beautifully refreshing Rosé.
For Senior Winemaker Shelley Torresan, the different varieties play an important role in creating the wine's distinctive character.
"We love working with these different Mediterranean varieties from the Southern Rhône. Each brings something unique to the blend, helping us create a Rosé that's fresh, vibrant and full of flavour. It's a wine made for sharing with friends over a long lunch, particularly with fresh seafood or a cheese platter, so to receive this recognition is incredibly rewarding."
With delicate aromas of rosehip, grapefruit and strawberry leading to a crisp, juicy palate, our Rosé is a wonderful choice for summer entertaining.
For a beautiful summer pairing, try our Rosé alongside fresh kingfish dressed with green oil and blood orange. The wine's vibrant fruit and refreshing acidity complement the delicate seafood, aromatic herbs and bright citrus flavours.
It's also a wonderful match for a generous cheese and charcuterie board, whether you're hosting friends for a festive gathering, enjoying a picnic or settling in for a long summer lunch.

Celebrating Our Vineyard and People
Behind both wines is our commitment to the land we farm in the elevated north-eastern corner of McLaren Vale.
Our ancient sandy soils, Mediterranean climate and organic and biodynamic farming philosophy provide the foundation for wines that express the distinctive character of our single-vineyard estate.
Certified organic and biodynamic since 2012, our approach focuses on nurturing healthy soils, encouraging biodiversity and carefully managing our vines throughout the growing season.
For Vineyard Manager Cliff Wickman, the trophies are recognition of the team's work and commitment to our organic and biodynamic vineyard.
"Everything we do in the vineyard is about looking after the land and growing the best fruit we can. Our organic and biodynamic approach encourages healthy soils and biodiversity, and it's really rewarding to see that hard work recognised with two trophies."
These awards are a proud moment for everyone at Yangarra, from those tending the vines throughout the year to the team guiding the wines through the winery and sharing them with our visitors.

Your Summer Wine Questions Answered
What is Piquepoul wine?
Piquepoul Blanc is a white grape variety originating from southern France, known for producing crisp, refreshing wines with naturally high acidity. At Yangarra, our Piquepoul is grown in the Mediterranean climate of Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale, creating a vibrant white wine with citrus notes, minerality and a subtle saline character.
What is the best wine to pair with fresh oysters?
Piquepoul Blanc is an excellent wine pairing for fresh oysters. Its naturally refreshing acidity and delicate saline character complement the oysters' briny freshness. Our 2026 Yangarra Piquepoul is a wonderful choice for Christmas oysters, seafood platters and summer entertaining.
What food pairs best with dry Rosé wine?
Dry Rosé is incredibly versatile with food. Our 2026 Yangarra Rosé pairs beautifully with fresh seafood, particularly kingfish with green oil and blood orange, grilled prawns and Mediterranean-inspired dishes. It's also an excellent companion to cheese and charcuterie boards, making it ideal for summer picnics, entertaining and long lunches with friends.
What is Rosé wine made from?
Rosé is typically made from red grape varieties, with limited contact between the grape juice and skins creating its distinctive pink colour. Our 2026 Yangarra Rosé is a Mourvèdre-led blend of Mediterranean varieties, including Counoise, Grenache and Cinsaut. Together, these grapes create a dry, fragrant and refreshing wine with notes of rosehip, grapefruit and strawberry.
What grape varieties are used to make Rosé in McLaren Vale?
McLaren Vale produces Rosé from several red grape varieties, including Grenache, Mourvèdre (also known as Mataro) and Shiraz. Mediterranean varieties such as Cinsaut and Counoise can also feature in blends. At Yangarra, our 2026 Rosé combines Mourvèdre, Counoise, Grenache and Cinsaut, reflecting our focus on varieties suited to the region's Mediterranean climate.
Is Rosé wine sweet or dry?
Rosé can be made in both dry and sweet styles. Our Yangarra Rosé is a dry, crisp and refreshing style, offering vibrant fruit flavours without pronounced sweetness. It's a wonderful choice for anyone looking for a refreshing summer wine to enjoy with food or friends.
What charcuterie pairs best with Rosé wine?
Dry Rosé is one of the most versatile wines to enjoy with cheese and charcuterie, making it a wonderful choice for sharing with friends.
At Yangarra's McLaren Vale cellar door, we pair Rosé with Comté cheese, freshly shaved prosciutto, Sicilian olives, cornichons, grissini and crackers.
The versatile wine's vibrant acidity and beautiful fruit intensity complement the richness of the cheese and cured meats, balancing the saltiness of prosciutto and olives. Other rosé pairings we love include cured meats like bresaola or capocollo, as well as cheeses like Manchego to a creamy brie with quince paste.
