Ovitelli is the most perfumed and elegant Grenache from the sands at Yangarra. Sourced from a single block, the vibrant fruit of those dry grown 1946 bush vines is rewarded with a long, luxurious ferment and a whole autumn on skins in big ceramic eggs.

2024 VINTAGE SMUMMARY

The growing season experienced a normal wet winter followed by a picturesque dry spring. The weather patterns indicated a shift from La Niña towards El Niño, usually favouring drier and hotter conditions. In these warmer seasons, we adjust our vineyard practices to encourage healthy canopy and adequate fruit development. With the help of mother nature and the unexpected high summer rainfall in December and January, it resulted in larger bunches and consistent berry development. Warm conditions prevailed through February and early March, promoting ripening of flavours and sugars with the balance we were aiming for. The warmth led to an intense couple of weeks, during which we harvested the majority of the grapes. The 2024 vintage offered great consistency across varieties showcasing purity alongside intensity.

100% Grenache Noir. Sourced from Block 30 - 2.0 Ha, planted in
1946 and adjacent to the High Sands block. Hand-picked 12th March and selectively berry sorted. 100% destemmed, crushed and tipped into 675L ceramic eggs with gentle hand plunging management. The fermentation occurred in the eggs and remained on skins for approximately 3 months. No pressings are used in this wine. No oak, matured exclusively in the eggs for a total 11 months. Bottled February 2025. Certified Organic/Biodynamic.

Erin Larkin, Robert Parker Wine Advocate
The 2024 Ovitelli Grenache is a confluence of two important elements: the first is the warm year defined by amplitude and florals, and the second is the process of maturation, whereby this wine is matured exclusively in concrete egg, which emphasizes the austerity of the tannins and enhances the focus of the palate. Together, the wine looks both supple and tightly coiled, and it bears all the hallmarks of aging impressively well over the week it has been open, and decades into the future too. This is a super wine. Drink now - 2044
