2024 VINTAGE SUMMARY
The growing season experienced a normal wet winter followed by a picturesque dry spring. The weather patterns indicated a shift from La Niña towards El Niño, usually favouring drier and hotter conditions. In these warmer seasons, we adjust our vineyard practices to encourage healthy canopy and adequate fruit development. With the help of mother nature and the unexpected high summer rainfall in December and January, it resulted in larger bunches and consistent berry development. Warm conditions prevailed through February and early March, promoting ripening of flavours and sugars with the balance we were aiming for. The warmth led to an intense couple of weeks, during which we harvested the majority of the grapes. The 2024 vintage offered great consistency across varieties showcasing purity alongside intensity.
100% Roussanne. Hand-picked on the 12th of March from Block 6
(1.0 Ha), our oldest Roussanne planting. A portion is destemmed, crushed, and filled to ceramic eggs. 66% of the final blend was fermented on skins and remained on skins for 4 months before draining. Only the free draining fraction retained. The other portion is whole bunch basket pressed into ceramic and fermented without skins. The blend is exclusively matured in ceramic eggs for a total of 7 months. Bottled November 2024. Certified Organic/Biodynamic.

The 2024 Roux Beaute Roussanne hails from a fantastic year in McLaren Vale. Warm and dry, with a healthy lead-in, thanks to the cool 2023 season that preceded it. I was lucky enough to taste a bottle of the 2015 Roux Beaute Roussanne last night at dinner, and the wine was aging so slowly; among some very strong French icon wines, it more than held its own and never wavered from expressing the freshness and detail of this place in McLaren Vale. So here, the 2024 Roux Beaute Roussanne is floral and fresh, and the phenolics really help the flavors to penetrate onto the palate. This is already so concentrated and intense but with tightly wound phenolics. This will be a superstar. It will not be released until May 2026. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Drink now - 2039
